Abstract:
Immigrant women suffer higher rates of domestic violence in the United States compared to their U.S.-born counterparts. Using a survey of two police departments in Minnesota, data were collected to determine officers; previous experience with domestic violence in the Hmong community and how the officers responded to such cases. Whereas this exploratory study illustrates the importance of evaluating police officers; attitudes toward and responses to domestic violence in one immigrant community, further research is needed to develop strategies to mitigate the impact of domestic violence on its victims - not only immigrant populations but in the general U.S. Population as well (Copyright applies to all Abstracts.)
