Abstract:
Along with the development of the Chinese rural tourism, many tourists came to rural tourism destinations. On the one hand, tourism development contributes to improve the rural tourism development through increasing more incomes and employment of local residents; on the other hand, the local folk culture may be seriously affected by tourism development. In this paper, the author firstly presents a literature review, and then discusses changes of Chinese rural folk culture, the deterioration, devolution, and declining, resulting from tourist gaze associated with rural tourism development. The case "Revolves Tibetan Festival", which is one of the most important folk ceremonies for Hmong people, and negative impacts resulting from tourists' demands on the festival are discussed from the perspective of tourist gaze. This paper may provide reference for researches on cultural changes resulting from tourism development.
