Abstract:
The article demonstrates how the Hmong American and diaspora studies is hardly a static area of study, but rather a field that tests accepted notions of nation, race, and ethnicity. Topics discussed include boundaries of Asian American studies; and use of diaspora studies as a space within ethnic studies to interrogate authority, cultivate political identities, and develop Hmong's capacity for collective action.
