Abstract:
This study addressed whether there was a correlation between the levels of stigma associated with having a mental illness and its influence on depression. Thirty female Hmong individuals over the age of 18 were employed in this study. The materials utilized for this study consisted of an English translation of the Hmong Adaptation of the BDI (HABDI), Hmong translation of the HABDI, the Self-Stigma of Mental Illness Scale (SSMIS), and the Hmong translation of the SSMIS. The results of this research study concluded that there was a positive correlation between the level of depression and stigmatization.
