Abstract:
Long Tieng, Laos, was the base for secret Central Intelligence Agency operations attempting to prevent men and material from moving down the Ho Chi Minh trail from North Vietnam to the Viet Cong. Hmong soldiers, "backseaters," flew in small planes with US pilots, called Ravens, to spot enemy troops and mark targets for bombing runs.
