Abstract:
This chapter discusses Hmong children living in the US. The authors begin by presenting some historical background on this particular ethnic group. The Hmong culture in Laos is described next. Hmong culture and cultural conflict in the US with regard to family, community, and school is explored. Case examples are used to illustrate in these 3 areas. The chapter concludes with a brief discussion on the assimilation of Hmong children into US schools and parental involvement.
