Abstract:
Research suggests that family interventions that improve family relations can foster positive developmental outcomes and decrease problem behaviors in youth. Experts also posit that employing a collaboration-based approach to family-based prevention programs enhances the availability of different resources such as organizational networks, information, referral, training, leadership, and evaluation. Gaining community support and working with underserved audiences can sometimes be challenging. This presentation offers an eleven-step planning process that can be used to develop a collaboration-based approach to family strengthening in ethnic communities.
