Abstract:
Examined the effects of Tai Chi Chuan on the health of Hmong American older adults. 20 Ss (60 yrs or older) recruited through door-to-door interviews were divided in to 2 groups, one of which was used as the control group. Ss in the experimental group participated in 10 2 hr sessions for 12 consecutive weeks in the Tai Chi Chuan program. The Tai Chi Chuan Program Inventory was used as a pre-test and post-test. Findings show significant improvements were found in Tai Chi Chuan knowledge, attitudes, and behavior, as well as in resting blood pressure, stress level, and shoulder and knee flexibility. These results provide further documentation of Tai Chi Chuan's beneficial health effects. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
