Abstract:
The Hmong hill tribe people, an ethnic minority group living in the North of Thailand, have been identified to be a group with high HIV infection prevalence. Lack of knowledge and awareness about HIV/ AIDS, as well as cultural habits and spiritual beliefs, put them at an increased risk for HIV infection. Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT), a private, non-governmental organisation (NGO), aims to educate and serve the entire community in order to improve their quality of life. PPAT provides the Hmong hill tribe people with information, guidance, counselling, training on HIV/AIDS, including family planning services as well as sex and family life education.
