Abstract:
The reviewer notes that narrative inquiry (see record 1999-02083-000), which documents the life and family history of Cher Shou Cha, a refugee from Laos who experienced life from the Yellow River in China to the urban landscape in America, gives voice to the struggles and complex issues faced by many families encountering a postmodern condition. The authors' journey begins to weave "the pandau of the Hmong: "In order to tell the story, you must weave together the threads of many colors" (p. 158). The author concludes that future critical forms of narrative inquiry will continue to delve deeper into issues of power and social equity and will provide additional glimpses of the scholars' life as an integral part of a critical postmodern narrative inquiry.
