Abstract:
This study investigated whether immigrant parents from different ethnic & socio-economic backgrounds agreed with the rationale for bilingual education & whether they approved of their children being placed in a bilingual classroom. Participants were Korean, Hispanic, & Hmong parents (N = 256, 150, & 100, respectively) of elementary school students residing in California. The results showed that there was strong support for the rationale for bilingual education. The parents also supported placing their children in a bilingual program. 2 Tables, 14 References.
