Abstract:
Examines the background and cosmology of health-, illness-, healing-, death-, and mourning-related beliefs and practices among 2 groups of refugees in Canada: the ethnic Viet and the Lao Hmong. Emphasis is placed on the syndrome of uprootedness among refugees, which exacerbates the patient's sense of loss in the palliative care setting. Practical recommendations are made for improving care of these patients and their families. (French abstract) (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2017 APA, all rights reserved)
