This article looks at the work lead by health science researchers at the University of Minnesota: Michael Spafka in the School of Public Health and Robert Blum in the Medical School are investigating health and psychosocial problems of Native Americans in Minnesota and throughout the country, John Flack in the Medical School is leading groundbreaking national studies of hypertension and related diseases in black Americans, and Greg Carlson at the University of Minnesota Hospital and Clinic directs a treatment program for members of the Hmong population who are addicted to opium.
