Abstract:
Examined the relationship between level of acculturation (ACC) and perceived intergenerational differences (IGDs) for 29 high school students from Hmong refugee families. Ss perceived themselves to be more acculturated than their parents. Higher ACC was associated with higher perceived IGDs. This association depended on the number of years Ss had spent in US schools. Greater ACC of traditional behavior, family relationships, and decision making was also associated with increasing perceived IGDs. Changes in women's roles did not predict perceived IGDs.
