Abstract:
Due to the modern time with lots of high technology, the lifestyle of people nowadays has changed. Lifestyle also reflects the culture and tradition in many communities in Thailand, especially among hill tribe communities. As cultural tourism is one of the important sources of income to the hill tribe community, they have to maintain their cultural tourism, or else their economy will be affected. The research question arises from the research problem that how to develop the sustainable cultural tourism for the hill tribe community. To cope with this issue more effectively, we need to study the background and relevant information of the hill tribe community to get the suitable development. This research aims to study, analyze, and suggest about the present basic infrastructure of society, economy, lifestyle, and community, including the information relevant to carrying capacity of the sustainable cultural tourism development for the hill tribe. The case study for this research is "Doi Pui" community which has "Hmong" as the majority of the population. However, this research does not aim for the ethnography study as the background of the hill tribe community is just for the purpose to understand how to get sustainable development in this case study. The data was collected from structured interviews and gathered from the record of detailed data. The research found that Doi Pui community has potential in carrying capacity in all four aspects including the effective of cultural tourism management of the community, the knowledge exchange for tourism development, the rule and the waste management, and the public relation to promote the cultural tourism in Doi Pui. The findings will not only help Doi Pui community to approach sustainable cultural tourism development, but it can also apply to other communities of minority groups in relevant development that the community would need.
