In addition to a challenging interdisciplinary curriculum, students (among whom were members of ethnic minority groups, such as Hmong boys and Native American girls) encountered multicultural education, which was seen more as a shift in perception rather than a curriculum in the strictest sense. Explorations of culturally relevant practices, human rights education, and explorations of social 123 Book Review 649 justice in education found their way into student journals and deeply affected students during this programme.
