Abstract:
The article explores the criminalization of second-generation Hmong American boys, referring to both native-born children of foreign parents and foreign-born children brought to the U.S. before adolescence. Topics discussed include mass incarceration and criminalization of Asian American and Pacific Islander groups; ongoing criminalization by schools and the police of Hmong American males; and criminal justice system to prevent racial threat to white masculinity.
