Abstract:
Based on the theory of thick description, this paper probes into the strategy of translating the cuisine with rich national culture by taking "Ghab Xongb March Shrimps" of the Miao people (internationally known as Hmong) as an example. It proposes that in translating national cuisine, besides translating the main ingredient(s), the cuisine's minority and national diet psychology should also be interpreted. Meanwhile, with the thick translation derived from thick description, the national diet culture can be translated through annotation, in order to enrich the translation strategy of translating dishes and promote the external communication of national diet culture.
