Abstract:
39 American teachers, 12 American counselors, 74 Asian children, and 36 Asian parents completed questionnaires assessing Asian students' adaptation to American schools. Findings indicate that 70% of the Asian students demonstrated a successful adaptation to public schools—50% of these Ss demonstrated academic success within the 1st 2 yrs. The rest of the Ss demonstrated improvement with each report period. Such factors as family characteristics, parents' value of education, and parents' disciplines significantly affected Ss' adaptation. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
