Abstract:
The value of cultural competence, as displayed by social work practitioners, is widely recognized. Yet little is known about the effectiveness of various methods for developing this capacity in human service workers. This case study illustrates the impact of cultural consultation, a strategy aimed at enhancing the culturally-specific knowledge of providers. The authors argue that such strategies promote practice that reflects the values, ideals, and ethical standards of the social work profession. Adapted from the source document.
